"In her portraiture, Nikki always captures the likeness of her subject; thus, encompassing far more, in her view, than mere figurative representation. While possessing an experienced technical ability, Nikki avoids at all costs being 'moored in a sea of academic portraiture' (Henry James). Nikki draws on her deep instinctual feelings towards the portrayal of her subject, as well as using her knowledge of Impressionist and Expressionist drawing and painting skills. In her view, this unique approach conveys the real sense of the person, revealed in oil paint or pastel, and this is what makes Nikki's portraits so completely satisfying to behold, while at the same time so enduring as works of art."
